VIDAVIHO is a project that is run by me, Petra Bakker. I am a wine expert with over 12 years of experience in teaching wine courses and giving wine tastings in the Netherlands. I followed my passion and relocated to Portugal a few years ago. Now I share my love for Portuguese wines with locals,  expats and other internationals in Cascais.

The diversity of Portuguese wines keeps blowing me away. Each region has so much authenticity to offer. And the quality of the wines is one of the wine worlds best kept secrets. My aim is to help others to enjoy the Portuguese wines as much as I do. I love to share my knowledge and passion in my tastings and classes.

My journey in wine started more than 20 years ago. As a restaurant manager I have worked in high end restaurants in Amsterdam. Managing service, the wine lists and cellar. With a strong focus on wine and food pairings.

When I left hospitality I started a successful career in online product management and marketing. I developed my commercial and technical skills: I managed technical projects, online campaigns, developed product strategies. lead teams, build apps, products and even AI toolings. And on the side, I have always been involved in wine.

In 2012 I got certified as a Vinoloog van de Wijnacademie, the level 4 in Dutch Wine education. Since then I have been sharing my knowledge on wine with others on a free-lance basis. By conducting workshops and courses, in the Dutch SDEN levels and in the international WSET certification. For 5 years I worked with Wijnstudio, one of the largest Dutch wine educators. Currently I am a student of the WSET school in London, in the level 4 DIP course.

Since the start of 2025 I am full-time focussed on wine. I organise wine tastings and workshops in the center of Cascais and give private tastings on request. I am working on expansion of my activities with professional trainings for restaurant staff and wine courses. I also help wineries and related businesses with their marketing and online strategies.

Wine is my passion and I have been eager for a long time to build my life around it. VIDAVINHO (life of wine) is the project that enables me to do just that: Make my life about wine.
